What to Expect in a Kangoo Jumps Class A Kangoo Jumps Power class is an explosive, highly motivating, choreographed, interval training program. It is specifically designed to challenge the whole body, building muscular strength and endurance. Each Jump move is designed to focus on core stability, ensuring a balanced workout, to challenge even the fittest participant, but also the beginner. ‘Old school hi-low aerobics’ are commonly included but when you are wearing KJs ‘everything old is new again’!
This fitness program suits a broad range of class attendees, even those who normally don’t take group aerobics like men or others participants like ‘spinners’ who may have trouble with their coordination or just keeping up with traditional ‘aerobics’ choreography because the second half of the class often follows a simple boot camp format i.e. jogging in lines or groups, performing calisthenics while laughing, bouncing, jumping and sweating together. But the enormous success of the classes is mainly due to the extraordinary feeling it creates, due to the high release of endorphins. Attendees get “addicted” to it. The basic moves are easy and can be performed with growing complexity and intensity as you progress to levels 2 & 3. So there is something for everyone. And no, you won’t fall over! KJ instructor’s say it is safer than step class and injuries are no more common in fact LESS than with other fitness activities –this is because KJs were designed for people suffering FROM injuries (such as knee and hip replacement patients!). The boots weight approximately 5lbs each – so your legs are strengthening WHILE your heart is conditioning by working out with ~ 9lbs extra weight and yet there is NO increased pressure on joints as the boots absorb 80% of the shock of jumping.
